Any Tool Can Be Used for Good or EvilI get dozens of emails every day with great questions. I wish I had the time to answer them all! From time to time - at least once a week - I'll pick a few to answer here! Remember, ultimately this newsletter is about, and for, YOU! When you read the concepts and strategies laid out in precise detail in my writings to you, always ask yourself, "how can I use this?" Because there is HUGE difference between finding something interesting, and finding a way to USE it! I want to lead you to our products that will put you on top of your game, period. You can always find them here. And, I also want to give you good info that you can use instantly, right here, right now. This weeks question is from a Chiropractor named Jeff K. "Question: Is Scott Bolan in 'the household of faith'? just wanted to know. I saw mention of NLP which is pure manipulation of another person's mind without their conscious awareness. I studied it many years ago. Just curious..." Jeff K. Thanks for your question, Jeff! It has two parts, so I'll take a little time to answer both. If I'm lucky, maybe I'll offend somebody! Just kidding, but you never know - some people have the emotional capacity of a poodle. But probably not folks like you if you're reading this. Anyway, I do my best to not offend people - but I won't lie in order to not offend. Does that make sense? First off, which "household of faith" are you referring to? My guess is that you're referring to Christianity as it is commonly known. I certainly believe in God. I certainly recognize the necessity of, and the positive and defining influence of judeo-christian values in society. I'm all for "God, Family and Country." And I call it "Christmas" not "Xmas." And I laugh at the pseudo-intellectual progressives who want to get rid of the historic ten commandments monuments - don't they know they are inscribed on the walls of the supreme court itself? And that the founding fathers were almost ALL Christians, and tough Warriors? As a result, you and I have the freedom today to live the way we like, and EVEN to openly disagree with them! But the difference is, they weren't WIMPY Christians! They had the "cajones" lacking in alot of the Christian men today. However, this does NOT mean that they didn't make their mistakes, or that America is "perfect." And, it does NOT mean that I should jump into a box of what someone else says is "Christianity" or "true religion." Letting others - in whatever form of influence they have with you - make that decision for you - could be very dangerous at worst, unrewarding and superficial at least. In other words "Don't Let Others Do Your Thinking For You!" Consider this: much of the modern medicine still does not acknowledge Chiropractic as valid. Yet you and I know differently, don't we? And likewise many, if not most, "Christians" would say that I'm not because I don't march in lockstep to their version of it. But I know differently. My rule for teaching people has always been that they must be of good character, regardless of their religion. Criminals, perverts and psychos need not apply! So even though I clearly am "outside of the box" - don't think that we might not have a common set of values and worldview, because we probably do, even though it doesn't always appear that way. And I guarantee you won't agree with everything I say. And, you may not "like" my use of Ninja, Hypnosis, Martial Arts violence and NLP terms. Many good Christian folk fear these terms because they do not truly understand them, or, they are conditioned to arbitrarily reject anything that does not appear to fit into their "box." This is fear of information. I am not afraid of information and neither should you be. You can still get a lot of great information that will be very useful to you, if you "mine for gold." What do I mean by that? In other words "don't throw out the baby with the bathwater." In the words of Bruce Lee, "absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is uniquely your own." Everything I say that is useful to you, absorb it. If you find something useless or that you don't like or agree with, skip that part. And then, add what you've found useful to your own game, and you're on your way! As far as NLP being "pure manipulation of another persons mind without their conscious awareness" I must disagree. What I teach is not "NLP," although I am trained and qualified to do so. I believe that NLP is in fact more manipulation of "your own mind" - an example would be anchors - for the purpose of putting yourself into a peak state to achieve the most effective outcome, including communication with others. But I see limits in the NLP "box" as much as any other "box" - and I always encourage my students to find it's value, and then quickly think outside of it! ANYTHING can be used for evil, or for good. It depends on the user. A kitchen knife can be used for good - to carve a steak; or for evil - to mug someone in an alley. I would not dismiss the value of a kitchen knife because bad men have used it for evil. Throughout history, religion has been used for both good and evil. I would not dismiss it's value based on the fact that it has been used for evil by bad men. Likewise NLP, Hypnosis, Martial Arts or any other "tool" can be used for a good or evil purpose, yet I do not categorically dismiss it's value. There's my answer to your question, Jeff! I hope it helps! Best Always,
